There’s a monkey in the jungle…

Because I’m a glutton for financial punishment and possibly a witless spendthrift I decided to purchase the Monkey: Jouney to the West vinyl box from messrs Hewlitt and Albarn via The Vinyl Factory.

Now, the fact that I don’t own a record player should not cause you to brand me a fool as it promises to come with delicious artwork and all round niceness and I am very susceptible to this kind of nonsense having bought the Radiohead Discbox. (Click to view utterly thrilling ‘unboxing’ video… twat)

The touble I’m having is that on Tuesday I received an email telling me my Monkey had shipped including a tracking number;

Your order xxxxxxx of 1 Monkey Journey to the West Deluxe Vinyl Box Set has been shipped
using Parcel Force http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw. Your tracking number is: ‘xxxxxxx’

Many thanks and come back soon,
The Vinyl Factory team

All well and good - until I this afternoon get an email telling me there’s a cock up with the production;

Dear Monkey customer,

Due to a production error we have decided not to dispatch the Monkey vinyl box sets at this time. As a result there will delay in delivery by approximately 7 working days.

We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn have a reputation for outstanding artistry. With respect to their collaboration and your needs, we want to deliver a product of the very highest standard.

If you have any queries or would like more information, please email: customerservice@vinylfactory.co.uk

Thanks and kind regards,

The Vinyl Factory

All sounds a bit suspect to me… the second email in the context of the first just seems like a flagrant lie… really idiotic to say something has dispatched if this is clearly not the case. I hope there is a genuine problem which involved a recall or something.

I suppose on the bright side they did have the intelligence to provide a digital download of the music which I would have expected to have been not thought about. At least the tunes are good. Now where’s my friggin Monkey?
